Press Release Body = Los Angeles, CA - (2/15/07) Peace and Conflict Scholars, a
group of students at USC dedicated to promoting holistic social development, have
teamed up with 4theWorld, a growing Gardena, California-based non-profit, to turn
their spring breaks into a service trip to the tropical nation of Belize.

The 13 students, many future graduates of USC's School of International Relations,
are raising funds to build a primary school in the village of Buena Vista. This
school project is a pilot venture designed to promote university student, staff and
faculty involvement in hands on development work in some of the world's neediest
places.

"Spring break used to be all about parties and drinking," says Daniel Martin, a
student helping to plan the trip, "a growing trend for students is to spend their
time - a precious resource - helping poverty-stricken communities. In the process,
we discover our own capacity to serve others while gaining a valuable and memorable
cultural experience. Besides, it's an adventure."

Programs such as Alternative Spring Break have awakened a passion for service and
grassroots change on university campuses nationwide. Now, student groups and many in
the non-profit community are harnessing this energy to create a generation better
equipped to deal with global issues such as disease, social inequality and
prejudice.

Robert Froom, 4theWorld's founder, says "Most students want to travel the world and
experience it for themselves. As an international relief organization, 4theWorld can
provide these things, but we can also help students discover their own capacities
for empathy and compassion. This international experience can result in a new wave
of young people with ambitions that go beyond their own pocketbook or circle of
friends to include their communities and people in need around the world."

The school project in Buena Vista is unique because it represents a cooperative
effort between students, universities, national governments, a non-profit relief
organization, corporations, private entertainment companies, musicians and even
local Los Angeles high school students. Project contributors include the Government
of Belize, 4theworld, R.K. Froom & Company, AppleOne, USC's School of International
Relations, Peace and Conflict Scholars and ER Entertainment.

All university students visiting Belize are eligible for the President's Volunteer
Service Award, an honor bestowed by the White House to outstanding community
servants.
